NAME

mailman - Administer UGCS mailing lists

SYNOPSIS

mailman <command> <listname> [ arguments ]

DESCRIPTION

mailman is a command-line interface to UGCS mailman mailing lists. It can perform most common administrative tasks (creating lists, adding members, removing members, etc). If you want more fine-grained control, you will have to use the web frontend at https://hermes.ugcs.caltech.edu/lists/<listname>. Note that you must be listed as a list owner in order to perform any of these operations.

COMMANDS

mylists
Show all lists that you own and may administer

show_owner
List the owners of the specified mailing list

create
Creates the specified list

list_members
Show current subscribers to the specified list

add_members
Add the specified email address to the list

remove_members
Remove the specified members from the list

set_members
Adjusts the list's membership so that it matches the addresses listed in the specified file. "-" can be specified as a file in order to use standard input. If no file is specified, it will open up a list of current subscribers in an editor, and then adjust the list membership after the editor is closed

reset_password
Generates a random new password for the specified list. This is useful if you've forgetten the password and need to make changes with the web frontend. The new password is also emailed to all list owners.

delete_list
Deletes the specified list

set_spam
Sets the spam kill level for the given list

EXAMPLES

mailman set <listname>

Opens up a list of the list subscribers in an editor, and lets you edit lists much like the dropfile interface.
