Hardware
From UGCS
To be recycled
- All functioning pukes
- Three PATA fileservers from ITS
- Rackmount servers from ITS
| Server type | Quantity | Processor | Ram | Hard drives | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2U_Server_1 | 1 | 733 PIII | 512 | 4x PATA (none present) | BIOS password is blank |
| 2U_Athlon | 2 | Athlon? | ? | 6x Hotswap PATA | BIOS password is blank |
| 2U_VA_Linux | 1 | 2x 800 PIII | 2GB | 2x hotswap SCSI (has drives), 2x coldswap SCSI | Runs a 2.2 kernel, only actually has 1 processor right now (another can be added) |
| 1U Dell | 1 | PIII | ? | ? | |
| Einux | 1 | 1ghz Athlon | 256MB | 1x 30gb, 1x empty | Coolest ethernet card you've ever seen |
| Einux | 1 | 1.4ghz Athlon | 1GB | 1x 20gb, 1x empty | Same as above, slightly different specs |
We also need to buy a bunch (14?) of PATA drives - I suggest these.
Initial test setup
- fileserver1 - AFS server
- fileserver2 - AFS server
- backup1 - AFS replication backup server, previous-day AFS snapshot server
- build1 - build server, LDAP server, Kerebros server
- mail1 - mailserver, fast fileserver
- Should be able to accommodate gir's 5GB of RAM
- client1 - vanilla shell client (possibly using Xen to simulate traffic of multiple vanilla shells)
- router1 - Machine with almost no hard disk, little ram, but fast dual processor and/or dual core and a Intel PRO/1000 PT Quad GigE adapter ($420) to act as the router for the Cisco switches. Reason: 4 ports, has x4 PCIe for full bandwidth to CPU, speaks 802.11q and trunking (info)
