March 2010 Downtime

Synopsis

UGCS and all of its services will be down starting at Midnight on Sunday, March 27. We plan on services being restored no later than 6am on Monday, March 28, although we hope to finish much sooner than that.

Details

In order to replace our some of our aging network equipment, we will have to turn off our current switch, install the new switch (a Juniper EX-2200), and then test it and fix any configuration issues that arise. If by 6am it isn't working, we will give up and restore the old switch to its old configuration.

All mail will be delivered to our secondary mail server, which will hold it until our services our back online, at which point the mail will be delivered. This applies to all of our mail- including mail that is forwarded to another address.

All websites will be replaced with a placeholder page that will also include status on the downtime.
