We now have an NFS shared space for storing larger files. It is mounted on /mnt/shared on all shellservers and our web server.

You can now make use of Subversion on UGCS via the standard svn protocol, and manage users and permissions in the standard way.

You can now access the Apache error and access logs for your webspace (in most cases). Look under /afs/.ugcs/apache-logs/<username>

To create a mailing list on UGCS, login and type create_mailinglist LISTNAME. You will receive an email with the password within a minute.

Two machines in the UGCS lab (polyhymnia and lara) now have GeForce 8600GT cards from Galaxy Technologies with 256MB of DDR3 video RAM. Come by and try them out!

Every UGCS account comes with a Postgresql database that you can use to host dynamic website content such as a wiki or bulletin board, as well as to store your personal data in.

You can log in without entering your password each time by installing a Kerberos client on your computer and configuring it to work with UGCS.

You can e-mail the sysadmins to request the installation of any software in the Debian lenny apt repository and be using the software package you've requested within 10 minutes if a sysadmin is awake and checking e-mail.
