Setup
- If you are using an external client such as Thunderbird or Outlook, you can set them up to use IMAP or POP with our email server settings
- If you use Mutt, it is automatically set up to read mail from your home directory. You currently cannot send mail from Mutt- it is a surprisingly complex problem that we are working on.
- If you use Pine or Alpine, see Pine Setup
Webmail
UGCS is proud to offer several webmail options. Roundcube is a nice, slick webmail interface that can be accessed at https://hermes.ugcs.caltech.edu/roundcube. If you don't want the features of Roundcube, and just want a simple mail interface, Squirrelmail is available at https://hermes.ugcs.caltech.edu/squirrelmail/src/login.php
Mailing Lists
UGCS now uses Mailman to manage mailing lists. You can access Mailman's web interface at https://hermes.ugcs.caltech.edu/. You need to give your UGCS username and password to authenticate to it. Currently, we still have Mailman's password scheme of a management password for each list and a user password for each user on each list, but are working on making Mailman part of our Single-Sign On architecture. For the time being, creating lists is disabled- but we plan to have it enabled as soon as possible. If you urgently need a list created, email a sysadmin.
