Mortals

The mortals sub-cluster is a group of 6 Dell Precision 340 workstations. They are 2.2GHz P4's with 512mb of ram, and were graciously donated by the Caltech CS department. They are meant to be used for intensive computing projects that would make normal login servers unacceptably loaded and unresponsive.

You can log into machines individually or use the round-robin "mortals.ugcs.caltech.edu" to get a random machine. We suggest checking ruptime to see the load on each machine.

You may want to use mssh to run commands on all the Mortals at once. For example, to see the current load on each machine (uptime), run:

mssh mortal uptime
