So, you guessed it, I'm a geek. Here's some random musings on the subject, and some links to geeky junk. I'm a math geek, but I'm happy with any kind of geekery.
Sometimes its hard to be a GeekyGoth; I mean, have you ever tried typing with 20 silver bangles on? I will take them off now--much better.
I'm a student at the University of Pittsburgh
Mathematics Dpt . Its not a fascinating department--in fact
it's much like every other math department in the world. As you
may has divined form the url, I used to go to Caltech. It was not a good time for
me, but it's a fun fun school to visit--I just didn't want to
live there. My specialty is philosophy of math. That's why I'm
at Pitt (you're not the first one to question it--"What are you
doing at a state school" is a question I hear
I also like Linux. But, I'm not a penguin-worshiper or anything. In particular, I find Linux Sociology fascinating. My brother develops for Debian so if you want to talk about Linux, talk to him
I work at a cool company called WhizBang Labs. We do machine learning research. However, our main website is pretty dull and content-free, so I wouldn't bother with it if I were you. The research site is much more interesting. I'm working on a thesis on philosophical foundations of machine learning and ethics and aesthetics of artificial intelligence design. I'll write some more about that later.
I'm extemely interested in the history of science, particularly ancient science (Oh My Pythagoras--how the man rocks my world) and Alchemy. read more here.
I'm also fascinated by esoterica and the occult. However, even here, I'm a ubergeek. I'm mostly a hermetic kabbalist, but I like all sorts of old, esoteric junk. In fact, over the summer, I'll be running a course on Mathematics and the Occult. check back for more details by April fools day. This class is OVER. However, beginning July 10th, I am starting an introductory Kabbalah series. Read more here
