In the Fall of 2001, we found a nice recliner couch (pictured here) in the trash. In the side pocket, there was a set of photos from someone's vacation of the Southwest. The pictures were of famous landmarks in Northern Arizona and Vegas. They sat in the couch for sometime, until towards the end of second term we decided that we needed to go on a road trip during Spring Break. In tribute to the gods who brought us this couch, we felt that it was our duty to go to every single place in the pictures and take our own, exactly similar, pictures. At first, we thought this would be tricky, since we would have to find every single vantage point that the original vacationers had taken their pictures from. Then we found out that they were, in fact, the laziest people in the world (except for me, of course) and that they took all their pictures from the easiest to get to spots.
The original pictures:
The route: Los Angeles to Las Vegas to Hoover Dam to Grand Canyon to Phoenix to Tucson to Nogales to Lake Havasu City back to Los Angeles.
Las Vegas

Vegas buffets rule.

Lost some money.
Hoover Dam

Yes, my arm is supposed to be in the picture. That's how it was in the ones we found.

Part 2: Completed.
Grand Canyon

We really didn't think we'd be able to find the exact vantage point that they took their Grand Canyon pictures from... after all, it's a big park. Luckily, the first place we got out, we found it.

Part 3: Completed

Tucson
Not in any of the pictures, but we decided to go there anyway.

West of Tucson, outside Saguaro National Forest

Goddamn this place was awesome.
Nogales, Mexico

By the way, dentist is Spanish for drug dealer. And I think that might be a car-jacking in the lower left corner.
Lake Havasu City

Mission from God: Completed
On a side note, Lake Havasu was one of the weirdest stops on our trip. We all expected it to be some shitty little desert town that happened to have London Bridge. Instead, it turned out to contain thousands of obnoxious drunk college students on Spring Break. As Pat said, "This is why I hated high school."

Well, at least they're honest...

My work of modern art.
