after growing up in florida, i made my big move to california.  before i left florida, i witnessed over 40 shuttle launches and 5 hurricanes.  even the eye of one hurricane -- that's eerie!  i've also been stung by a man-o-war -- yet, i still enjoy the beach immensely.

i went to caltech for undergrad and was a mole in a fine house.  i was also lucky enough to work with dr. c.e. brennen (he's an avid hiker -- here's his really cool book of hikes) and dr. tricia sur, the caltech Y, & the undergraduate admissions committee.  the only natural disaster i experienced at 'tech (besides the crumbling of my ego) was the northridge quake my frosh year.

after five long years, i've just completed my graduate work in mechanical engineering at stanford -- in general, a really awesome school.  hmmm... here's what my first few years as a woman in engineering grad school were like.  on that note, i helped found the ME women's interest group.  i also worked as a community associate in the graduate residences and was the design divison student representative.

in my free time, i like to scuba dive, snowboard, run, & mountain bike.  while the past 5 years have contributed little to my savings account, i have had the chance to visit lots of places:  japan, belize, western europe (the netherlands, france, switzerland, northern italy, england, scotland, southern spain), and hawaii.
