Backcountry Access (BCA) has a wealth of information. We have 7 of their Avalanche Beacons among our club equipment.

Classes

Most of the major guide services in Bishop offer classes. The club has occasionally organized classes through them, and sometimes we've received partial or full funding. See the list below:

• Avalanche Safety Course 2011. Taught by SMC.
• Winter Safety Workshop 2009 Not a full avalanche course, just a refresher, taught at the Caltech campus.
• Avalanche Course 2009. Taught by SMI.
• Avalanche Course 2007. Taught by SMC.
