From Whitney Trail

After reaching trail crest, continue along the Whitney Trail as it follows the Western side of the long summit ridge. Before rounding the bends that open up on the final slog past the needles to the summit, scramble to the right up class 2 rubble to reach the Mount Muir summit block. Near the righthand side there is a class 3 route up the final sections. With care the exposure can be kept mild, and there are many variations possible.
