Mount Rainier

Mount Rainier is a 14,000+' mountain the Cascade range in Washington state. Because it is extremely heavily glaciated (like nearby Mt. Baker) yet also relatively tall, it offers different mountaineering opportunities than in the Sierra Nevada, and is a highly sought-after mountain. The easiest routes are not technical but require a bit more knowledge than a Colorado or California mountain of the same elevation, due to different weather patterns and the increased hazards of glacier travel.
Many of the club members have climbed Rainier, so please ask the email list if you have questions.
