About Me

About to start the Direct South Face on Lone Pine Peak (5.7 A0). Little did I know we had 17 hours of climbing ahead of us to reach the bivy ledge! May 13, 2012
Learning to ice climb in Ouray, CO. January 2012

I'm a grad student in GPS. I study geomorphology and landscape evolution, which means not only do I like to spend time outside, but I also like to think about the physical processes which create and destroy landscapes.

I've been hiking and backpacking for a long time, but only started technical activities once coming to Caltech. I enjoy sport and trad climbing, trail running, scrambling, snow walking, and occasionally canyoneering. You can e-mail me at jscheingross -at- caltech dot edu.

Pictures from my most of my trips are up at flickr page.
