Whitney Portal is a campsite and trailhead for the North Fork and South Fork routes to Mount Whitney. It lies at the end of Whitney Portal Road from Lone Pine on the 395. It features pit toilets, water (runs when the road is open - see Whitney Portal Road), and a store/restaurant (also only open when the road is, obviously)
