Neil Jones was my primary associate at Caltech. We took many of the same classes, lived in the same house, and had similar interests. Heeding the primal call of the paycheck, Neil graduated two terms early and worked at a variety of different programming jobs until recently. Eventually, Neil concluded that his co-workers were largely dumb-asses, and decided to return to academia to pursue intellectual fulfillment in the CS department at UCSD. Neil is smarter than me, so probably this was a good decision.
Matthew Hacker is a very good friend from back home. Among other things, we built fences together.
