Core Curriculum Steering Committee

Committee Charge:
The CCSC coordinates and supervises content and teaching of the Core Curriculum. The Committee also monitors the performance of the Core Curriculum courses and devises improvements in the core. Any proposed change in Core Curriculum courses must be reviewed and approved by the the CCSC before it is considered by the Curriculum Committee and the Faculty Board. The Committee consists of at least one member from each Division.

Current Issues:

• Discussing the menu course requirements
• Decided against Pass/No Record (as opposed to Pass/Fail)
• Debated changes to the core writing requirement
• Ways to improve use of the "shadow grade" system second term of freshman year
• Creation of Ph 8:
  • Removing practical lab component of Ph 1bc, made into seperate course
  • Can satisfy frosh laboratory requirement
