Guide to Frosh Labs

This list has not been updated since 2007. Please check your current catalog to confirm if this information is up to date. Several courses can be used to satisfy the Introductory Freshman Lab requirement as part of core. Some of these labs are well-advertised; others aren't. The following is a list of labs known to satisfy the frosh lab requirement, so that you can make a well-informed decision about which one you should take. All frosh labs are P/F unless noted otherwise.

  • APh/EE 9a (2-2-2). Meets first term.
  • APh 24 (0-4-2). Meets third term; has APh 23 as a prerequisite; not open to freshmen.
  • Bi 10 (1-3-2). Meets third term; intended to be taken concurrently with Bi 9.
  • Ch 3b (1-6-1). Meets first and third term; first term is not open to freshman.
  • Ch 4a (1-6-2). Meets second term; open to upperclassmen and freshmen who are in Ch 41.
  • Ch 10c (1-6-1). Meets third term; Ch10 ab is a prerequisite.
  • Ge 116 (1-4-1). Meets second term.
  • Ph 3 (0-6-0). Meets all terms; need to place out of Ph 1a to take first term freshman year; on grades senior year.
  • Ph 5 (0-9-0). Meets first term; not open to freshman; may be taken on grades.
  • Ph 8bc (0-3-0). Meets second and third terms; designed to be taken concurrently with Ph 1bc practical; both terms need to be taken to satisfy freshman lab requirement.
