ASCIT "Take a Prof to Lunch" Program
Veysey Student Life funding is available for students to take faculty to lunch at the Athenaeum or a
local restaurant. The program is administered by ASCIT; it provides a maximum of $15 per person to
cover the costs.
To apply for funding:
Send an email to the ASCIT Treasurer (currently Maral Mazrooei, treas@donut.ugcscaltech.edu)
with the names of all students who wish to participate and the name of the professor. Include a
sentence about why you would like to take out this professor. The limit is four students per professor,
but exceptions are possible if a good case is made at the time of application.
After the request has been approved by the ASCIT BoD, you can either:
- Go to a local restaurant and give the receipts to the ASCIT Treasurer for reimbursement.
- Go to the Athenaeum. Notify the ASCIT Treasurer in advance of the date and then pick up a
chit sheet from her. The lunch will be paid for directly from the ASCIT account.
PLEASE REMEMBER: Funding is limited to $15 per person. At the Athenaeum this is typically
enough for an entree and either a drink or dessert.

GSC "Take a TA to Lunch" Program
Inspired by ASCIT's "Take a Prof to Lunch" program, the GSC has launched their
own version for TAs! Learn more about your favorite subject, get free lunch
and show appreciation for your TA all at the same time. Here are the
details:
- Find a TA you want to talk with outside of the classroom
- Organize a group of 4 or 5 classmates
- Send an email to Cory Tobin (ctobin@caltech.edu) of the GSC Academics
Committee to get approval
- Go to Chandler or a local restaurant
- Eat and discuss research at Caltech
Both undergrads and grad students are eligible as well as all TA's.
