- In charge of all technical issues at the Open Directory Project.
- Rearchitected cluster to improve uptime and performance; learned to configure Squid and write php code as part of this.
- Converted underlying data from a mixture of 12 different character sets to UTF-8.
- Encouraged editors to write tools on top of ODP interfaces by providing them with a dedicated machine, their own forum, and support from staff.
- Worked with Google to prevent hijacked sites from appearing in the directory.
- Added support for RSS and Atom feeds.
- Worked with CNN to automatically import daily news stories into a dedicated category.
- Created web interface to dead-link checker so meta editors could run it on their own.
- Worked with editors on a daily basis to discuss bugs, features, and plans for the future.

Shop@:
- Helped design and implement fully functional Plan B system for AOL Shopping in Fall 2002. QA noted that our system was virtually bug-free.
- Rewrote merchant feed processing software; cut feed processing time by 83%. Web tools to detect errors in the merchant feeds were used extensively by customer support staff.
- Completed system for log analysis, with daily reports on revenue and performance. Ran custom reports for Business upon demand.

Music:
- Helped design and implement two highly scalable music services in perl and C; neither shipped due to rights issues. Third version, Music Search, was launched on the AOL service in February 2002.
