During his sophomore year at OSU, Jason ran for student body president, on a platform that he would try and introduce a mandatory public service requirement for graduation.

"We are not here only to serve ourselves", he said in one speech, "We are here to serve our neighbors as well."

Jason lost a close race, but another student, Mark Kilby, won with a similar platform the next year.
