Trini Restaurants In LA
- The Caribbean Treehouse
- A small, critically acclaimed Trinidadian restaurant.
The Caribbean Treehouse serves good food, although they're out of some main course every time we go. I think they have a bar, too.
- Reta's Roti Shop
- Located on Crenshaw south of the 10. She usually has goat, chicken, and shrimp (if you call early). On Saturday morning, there's bake, saltfish, and fry fish. Call ahead for take-out. The dining area is small and has a cozy feeling.
Trini Groceries in LA
- Akka's Market
- Akka's Caribbean and African Market is a small grocery located at 4233 South Crenshaw.
They have a reasonable selection of Caribbean and African foods, and a number of different beverages (including Red Stripe and Shandy!).
The establishment is overseen by the imposing Chris Akka, who's something of a legend among us at Caltech.
