Come take part in the spirit and spectacle of Carnival on the island of Trinidad. Experience its colorful parades, wild parties and larger-than-life costumes. Visit the mas camps, Calypso tents and steel pan competitions. Rehearse and perform with a steel band or join in the masquerade of the outlandish Carnival parade.
Learn traditional Carnival rhythms and dances such as Kalinda, Bongo, Jab Molassi and Calypso. Study with Trinidad's master dancers and drummers in beginning and intermediate/advanced level drum classes and mixed level dance classes. Steel pan by special arrangement.
Relax on the beach. You will have plenty of opportunity to mix with the local people.
$2,350 ($1,200 by 12/1/95; balance due by January 19, 1996) $2,200 if paid in full by 11/15/95.
Price includes airfare from San Francisco, lodging and two meals per day, Caribbean music and dance classes, visits to mas camps, beach days and tickets to Panorama Finals, King and Queen of the Bands, Dimanche Gras show, Calypso Tent shows and Carnival fetes.
