What I'm listening to these days
- Evanescence
- Michelle Branch
- Sarah Brightman
- Jewel
- Norah Jones
- Nina Gordon
- The Eagles
- Dixie Chicks
- Shakira
- Vanessa Mae
- Hijas Del Tomate
- Imani Coppola
Other stuff that I have and sometimes listen to
- The Language Instinct (Steven Pinker)
- The Seven Daughters of Eve (Bryan Sykes)
- Chinese: An Essential Grammar (Yip Po-Ching, Don Rimmington)
- Darwin's Black Box (Michael Behe)
- Darwin On Trial (Philip Johnson)
Notes: You can read my review of the Chinese grammar book on
amazon.com. I realize that many
people will disagree with Behe and Johnson, but I think the books
are worth reading anyway (particularly Behe's).
- Electricity and Magnetism (Edward M. Purcell)
- Elementary Differential Equations (Boyce and DiPrima)
Notes: Purcell is the kind of book people seem to either love or hate.
Just look at the reviews on Amazon.
Personally, I think it one of the best textbooks I've had at 'tech.
We used Boyce and DiPrima in a class I took at the
University of Oregon.
When I came back to 'tech, I discovered that it is now being
used here as well and I consider that a good thing. I confess I
didn't actually read a whole lot of it but that was only because the
lectures followed the book closely enough that reading added little.
I don't like watching that much television so I tend not to see
anything regularly. My roommate watches Friends fairly regularly so
I've seen a lot of Friends episodes. Beyond that, I sometimes watch
Simpsons, COPS, Maximum Exposure, Scrubs, or channel flip between
The Tonight Show and Letterman.
