RankManiac 2010 Contest
As part of the CS 144 class, Professor Adam Wierman has organized a RankManiac 2010 contest. The goal is to have the highest ranked page for a Google or Bing search of the phrase “RankManiac 2010.” You can learn more about the contest here. Professor Wierman got the idea from the RankManiac contest devised by Professor von Ahn for his “Science of the Web” class.
CS 144 is a brand new class, proposed at last years Student Faculty Conference. It’s part of a three-course sequence (143, 144, 145), which can be used to fulfill the project requirement for CS majors.
My group’s page is doing very well so far. We’ve hooked into a lot of social media outlets, like Facebook, Digg, Reddit, Squiddo, and Youtube.
We even made a logo for it! We found that it was very important to have good logos, since we have so many different sites. Since all our sites are branded with our logo, it’s easy for us to recognize which are ours.
