She was asked this question twice in Southern California, once at the Guitar Center in Azusa as well as once in the back-seat of a SuperShuttle. She picked up the bass at the inception of Sexhamster, because it seemed like someone who had played violin before (as Rui had done) could learn it quickly. Rui enjoys music by Pearl Jam, Ani DiFranco, Lucinda Williams, and the Lunachicks. Contrary to popular belief, Rui did not beat Alex so he would join the band. He was perfectly willing to do so on his own volition. She has a B.S. in Chemistry and Literature from Caltech. Rui would rather be a rock star than go to law school, but as of right now, that appears to be where she is headed in the fall.
