Look Up

Footsteps echo in this maze
And their words ring inside of his head
He wanders through the corridors of his mind
A twisted maze of doors
Locked with a key he refuses to remember how to find
What does it matter if he tries one more?

Look up at the sun
So distant and warm
If only he would fly (out of your maze)
Look up for the peace
He cannot deserve
Why is it so hard to do what you want?

Lost beneath his intentions
He listens to the quiet screams (of loneliness)
The heart beats reluctantly
While his goals beat down upon his back
Look over your shoulder for the dreams you swore someday you'd find
You'll never get there if you ask "what for?"

Look up at the sun
So distant and warm
If only he would fly (out of your maze)
Look up for the peace
He cannot deserve
Why is it so hard to do what you want?

A slave to that which he will not love
The truth is never what it seems
Images of friends turn slowly away
And carry away his dreams

His path means nothing
You don't care so why should he
All he can feel is the knife in his back
And the poison deep in his soul
Bridges burning down all around his face once again
Why should he care to open up that door?

Look up at the sun
So distant and warm
If only he would fly (out of your maze)
Look up for the peace
He cannot deserve
Why is it so hard to do what you want?
