Evening Prayer
Challenging a neglected god to rain down punishment from on high
Pleading for deliverance from self-inflicted misery
Terrified of the possibilities inherent in one last try
Begging to escape from the black cloud of history
Cursing god in myself for needing this fate
Screaming at the stars with the next to last breath
Wracked with love, and burning with hate
Desperately pray for the clean slate of death
