Last night I flew back from St. Louis... had to take a flight into Phoenix, then on to L.A.... and on that flight, I sat next to one of the hottest girls I have ever held a conversation with.

But I didn't get her name. And I didn't get her number. And I ain't happy. :(

She was sweet, and friendly, and stylish, and cool. Wore her dark hair in braided pigtails, with a bluish toque (I think that's what you call those winterish caps). She was tanned, but that's ok, because I think her complexion was naturally dark anyways. And she had the deepest brown eyes, full of warmth and sunshine.

She was studying for an art history class, Greek & Roman... she's a student at Occidental, in fact... I suspect she's a sophomore, since she mentioned that this Thanksgiving vacation at Oxy was different than last year's... and I sat there in wonder for over half the plane ride home, realizing that I was two sentences away from asking this completely beautiful complete stranger out. But I never got through those two sentences. Or even one, I really only needed one -- Would you like to get together sometime? Or *something*.

I've never asked a complete stranger out. Are you kidding? The closest I came to that was E. Marie, and while I didn't know her all that well, we were both in Fantasio, which rehearsed for five or six weeks, and I didn't ask her out until Tech Week (as I recall).

The very fact that I *considered* asking this gal out is a step for me, and what's wierd is that the instinct was totally natural. The only thing that kept me from doing it was... god, I don't really know what it was.

Whatever it was, it's mostly gone now. I'm really seriously thinking about trying to find her. In fact, I already tried the Oxy website, but I'd need her name. (Arrrg!) The "seriously thinking about" part comes into play regarding the possibility of calling her department (she's an art major) and seeing if somebody there will take pity on me and help me find her, or at least let her know I'm interested in finding her and giving her the choice to call/email me or not.

I even considered calling up the department and claiming that she left something at the airport or on the plane that I picked up, but that's a bad idea for two reasons: one, I'm a terrible liar, mainly because I hate lying, and two, life is not like a Hollywood movie, where such a falsehood would usually be rewarded.

So, if I do this, I have to somehow convince somebody that I'm not being a total stalker-boy. Even though, in a way, I am, by trying to find her without her consent... uh, is that logical, or absurd? Anyways, if anybody has any ideas on how to approach the person at the department that I'll be calling in the next day or two, suggestions are quite welcome.

One more thing -- if you finger me, you'll notice that my .plan file includes the statement, "Next step: Ask her name."

The step after that is pretty obvious. And then... QED.
