Shows in Academic Year 1997-1998
June 12 1998, Caltech    10:20 am
Mystery show! One song, but bound to knock your socks off. The arrangement's done. Now we're working on perfecting our microphone technique. Sit tight.

The aftermath: We loved it, Bill Nye loved it, and the non-stodgy members of the audience loved it. Possibly the biggest gig of our lives! Wow. Just Wow. I couldn't see past my microphone.

May 15 1998, Caltech    Noon
Bow deeply, friends. The masters of professional rock a cappella music, Spiral Mouth, are coming to Caltech for a friday noon concert. Ecphonema will be performing a single number to open for them.

Thanks much to the Caltech Y and Dina Torok for organizing this and bringing one of our favorite pro groups to campus.

Be there. You don't want to miss these guys, I promise.

Post show note: They came, we saw, and they kicked ass all over the place. Nothing else can be said but that.

May 10 1998, Caltech    8 pm, Avery Dining Hall
Eight guys, more than ten songs, ONE LOUD NOISE! Ecphonema's first "Sing All We Know" concert is a new idea we hope to make a tradition. In under an hour, we hope to entertain you with every song we've ever learned plus a couple we haven't. :) Please note the date change- we moved it to the 10th to avoid conflict with the popular Semana Latina party.

The Treble Makers will be joining us for a few songs.

Post show note: We also have recordings of this concert, including both the Treble Makers and Ecphonema. Let me know if you want a CD.

May 6 1998, Scripps College    8pm Balch Auditorium
   Something from the bar? Yeah...
As the year wraps to a close, Ecphonema will be performing with the Claremont Styledogs at their last concert. Come hang out- maybe you'll get another chance to hear the dogs' wicked "I Like Cold Beverages" before the end of the year.
April 25 1998, USC    8:00pm Bovard Auditorium
Ecphonema joins the USC SoCal VoCals, the USC Loudmouths, the USC Men's Chorus Hangovers and Pitzer's rocking female quartet Pandora's Vox for the USC Musicfest hosted by The USC Sirens. Promises to be one hell of a show.

Post show note: the MusicFest was Ecphonema's best performance ever, and a great show all around. We have a recording of the show and are looking into burning CDs of it. If you're interested, contact us; cost will be around $5 per CD.

April 13 1998, Caltech    3:00pm Moore building courtyard
Ecphonema and the Treble Makers are performing impromptu sets for the prefrosh weekend club fair.

Post show note: We met a lot of great frosh who seemed interested in a cappella. Next year could be a big one for vocal music at Caltech!
