Chi Feng, Andres Jaramillo-Botero, William Goddard III. 2011 Study of Hypervelocity Impacts Using Large-Scale, Long-Term Molecular Dynamics.
(48x36) Poster [3.8MB PDF] presented at annual PSAAP site meeting.
I developed simulation techniques to model hypervelocity impact using large-scale, long-term, reactive molecular dynamics using the ReaxFF and eFF force-fields developed at the Caltech Goddard Group. I studied the fundamental physical processes associated with hypervelocity impact and the plasma formation phase of lithium during impact, e.g. DC conductivity computed from the current-velocity correlation function via the Green-Kubo relations.
Chi Feng, Kevin Hickerson, Brad Filippone. 2011 A Monte Carlo Simulation for Understanding Energy Measurements of Beta Particles Detected by the UCNb Experiment.
(48x36) Poster [2.6MB PDF] presented at the APS Division of Nuclear Physics conference in October 2011.
I developed a Monte Carlo simulation to model energy reconstruction in the UCNb experiment using the GEANT4 simulation toolkit. The model of the neutron beta-decay calorimeter included neutron physics, scintillation, and optics.
