February 20, 2001

Present: IHC (minus Marcus Williams), Stephen Wexler.

Meeting called to order in the Ruddock dining hall.

We welcome Aaron Davies, the new president of Page, to the IHC.
We discuss moving our weekly meeting to another day, but we decide that Tuesday at noon is still the best time.
Dana gives us the Disco update: Page won, and Ruddock is the next challenger, followed by Dabney and Blacker.
Dana tells us that at the last ASCIT meeting, a resolution was passed to give the following student-faculty committees to the ARC to appoint: Educational Outreach, Academic Policies, Curriculum, Core, and Library. This still leaves the IHC with 10 committees to interview for and appoint. A full list is on the IHC web-page, if you're interested.
The IHC will start meeting with the current members of these committees before interviewing candidates for next year.
The ARC will let us know their recommendations. If any member of the IHC would like to attend the ARC interviews, they are welcome to sit in on their meetings. Conversely, Nick Knouf, the new ARC Chair, will come to our meetings to tell us whether our ARC reps are doing their jobs.
Stephen Wexler adds that the food reps have been fairly good lately.
Stephen Wexler is here to tell us about the responsibilities of the Food Committee Chairman. Basically, you go to food rep meetings, which are 1-1.5 hours each week. You take care of the administrative stuff, such as organizing the meetings and editting the e-mail list. You manage votes, when votes are taken. For qualifications, a former food rep would be good. There are surveys, such as concerning the cereal selection, that you manage.
Dana tells us the duties of the IHC Athletics Manager. You oversee Interhouse Athletics, but Coach D'Auria handles the scheduling. You oversee disputes and make sure that Disco is kept to schedule. You may enforce when refs flake. You update the web page. Also, the Ath Man used to deal with varsity awards and letter jackets, but the Athletics Department may assume this role in the future. Dana tells us Jon Ladd's proposal for a new system of reffing - it might be good to establish a pool of available refs for every sport, so that the refs are qualified for their sport. Perhaps Athletics would pay them.
Meeting adjourns around 12:26 pm.
