IHC Minutes: April 20, 2005
meeting called to order in Ruddock
guests: Ransom Poythress, Ewen Chao
- Mural discussion
- Brandi reports that people from housing came again to Dabney to
paint the walls. She kicked them out of the house and called Margo
Marshak and Tom Mannion. Tim Chang claimed the painting was again a
miscommunication, and said that Dabney would have 48 hours to paint
over "offensive" images. Brandi told Tim Chang we would re-paint
over the weekend.
- Discussion of possible rotation violations during prefrosh weekend
- We will meet at 7:30 pm in SAC 33 to discuss whether or not any
reports of rotation violations need to be pursued.
- Room picks for next year
- Blacker room picks were yesterday
- Dabney room picks are tonight and Ricketts are on Sunday
- Blacker had some trouble filling all of their spots in the
modular housing, and Dabney and Ricketts are worried about
having similar problems.
- Avery will have to kick out about 25 residents. There is some
discussion of putting Avery members who aren't able to get spots in
Avery in left-over mod space.
- Also, houses can reserve a few additional spots for Frosh just in
case the Frosh class is large. (And there is some suggestion that the
yield will be high this year.)
- Discussion of multi-purpose mods
- There is still some confusion over which houses will share which
multi-purpose mods and other details (such as whether or not TV's
will be in the multi-purpose mods).
- We resolve to discuss the details in a later meeting, perhaps
with only the south house presidents present.
- Avery roompicks and membership issues.
- Avery does not wish to distinguish between members who picked into
Avery as a freshman and who picked in as unaffiliated spots.
- There is some question as to whether or not Avery residents will be
double-billed if they live in Avery unaffiliated spots and do
not consider themselves Avery "members".
- Rotation rules discussion
- There is discussion about what is and is not allowed in talking to
prefrosh and frosh about different houses.
- This issue will be discussed further at tonight's meeting.
- Interhouse Athletics
- D'Auria is going to write up the athletics schedules for next year.
Avery will be part of this, so they need to put together an athletics
list. (For Avery residents who are members of other houses, they need
to decide which ath list they are going to be on.)
- We need to agree on whether or not grad students can play for Avery.
It is tentatively agreed that any grad students living in Avery will
be allowed to play on Avery's athletics teams.
- IHC Voting Issues -- it is agreed that Jacob will be the
tie-breaking vote on the IHC until there is further discussion on this
issue.
- The IHC approves of Lloyd's changes to their athletics list.
