IHC Minutes: June 1, 2005
meeting called to order in Lloyd
absent: Brandi Cossairt
- Peter reports some decisions from Housing about the multi-purpose mods.
- The DDR machine will be in the publications mod.
- The Fleming coaches will be in the Fleming-Ricketts mod.
- The Ricketts TV will be in the Dabney-Blacker mod. This sounds like
the result of some sort of miscommunication -- someone needs to
check with Housing about this.
- The mods are supposed to be open today, but there have been some delays.
We are concerned that the mods will not open in time for students to move
into if they are taking a vacation at the beginning of the summer before
starting a SURF, etc.
- There is concern about the singles and doubles being on the same key
when summer students are at Caltech, because in the past some summer
students have posed a theft problem for house and individual property.
- Jacob still needs estimates for the cost of rotation for various
houses.
- Nobody has responded to Peter's general call for comments on the
mural policy.
- Peter will investigate why the ASCIT by-law changes have still not
been proposed.
- The trunk room is still full. The discussion on emptying it out will be
postponed until the dates that the mod will be open are finalized.
- Not everyone received an invitation to the Alumni Board Dinner. It will
be Friday night after commencement. The message will be forwarded along
to everyone on the IHC.
- Voting changes
- Currently, quorum is four voting members, and resolution changes
require at least four votes. We propose changing both of these
to five.
- Currently, amendments require approval of the executive committees
of seven houses. If not approved, amendments can be proposed again
a month later and then only need the approval of six. We propose
changing these two eight and seven.
- Erik would like to organize some Avery and South Houses social events
next year and over the summer (like BBQ's) because we will all be living
together. The IHC approves.
