IHC Minutes: March 2, 2006
meeting called to order in Chandler
absent: Jacob Burnim
- UCC and Health Ad training
- Dr. Helena Kopecky discusses UCC training along side the already
established Health Ad training.
- Thursday March 9, 1-2:30pm training in the West Wing of
the Y (free food).
- Topics will involve how to deal with and identify stress
issues in students.
- Everyone seems in favor and agree that president encouragement
will help with the turn out.
- Dr. Helena Kopecky would like feed back next time we meet about
the training and increased UCC involvement.
- Issac Garcia-Munoz is introduced as the new Ricketts president.
- NCAA Tech article
- E-mails have been sent to Margo Marshak, Sharon Borbon, and
Tom Mannion apologizing for the original article.
- Some members of the IHC will speak with Sharon Borbon in
person.
- In the future, similar articles should be run by the whole IHC
before being submitted.
- Such articles should also undergo better fact checking and
be written in a more dispassionate style.
- A correction article will be written for next week's Tech.
- Maintaining good relations with the Provost's Office is
obviously very important for the IHC to remain effective.
- Stewardship Chair Eddie Truong-Cao was not able to make it to
today's meeting. The IHC will speak with him at a later date.
- Alumni Board meeting next week
- Thoughts/suggestions for this meeting should be brought up with
Todd by next week.
- The damage fund is a touchy subject, but should be brought up
-- it is looked at by many alums as money for responsibilities,
but the effect is that House budgets are reduced.
- Apache
- The IHC is still waiting to hear about an automatic fine, but
perhaps this should be a CRC matter?
- For other interhouse parties, it is important to continue to
take all precautions when planning the parties and run the
building plans across the appropriate people, including
Tom Mannion.
- Presidents should send emails to their houses reminding people
to look out for one another and keep over-drinking under
control.
- Craig Montuori has sent emails to the appropriate committees to
check up on their issues/meetings, or lack there of, and is still
waiting for responses.
- Communication between Houses and Admissions office
- Houses should consider inviting Admissions staff to sit in
on house dinners (and dress dinners).
- When talking to admissions for advertisement of the houses,
we should stick to general house qualities, rather than
specific house traditions.
- Sign ups for IHC Secretary, Ath Man, and Food Chair are going up
soon, appointments will be made in near future
- It is rumored that a committee to look into alternative money
making methods in Auxiliaries is being blocked. However,
this may simply mean that some other means will be used to
look into such alternatives, rather than a committee like a
the Seven-Day Board Task Force.
