IHC Minutes: 5/11/06

Meeting called to order in Chandler.

Guests preset: Jean Sun, Todd Gingrich.

Committee members absent: none.

1. South House project (again):
   • We need to decide how to break the news. We should definitely get the Tech into it.
   • We should try to do what we can about getting fundraising moving for the proposed Rosen Student Center. Since Rosen's gift, the administration has done absolutely no fundraising for this project.
2. Honor code survey:
   • The survey is about half-way over and the South Houses are about 15-20% behind the North Houses.
   • Presidents should make announcements at dinner.
   • Another campus wide email after dinner today will be sent out about rankings and stats.
   • Survey ends on Monday at midnight.
3. Avery Interhouse:
   • Gonzo is talking with John Liu (Avery Soc Director) about it.
4. Stewardship Committee:
   • Eddie wants autonomy for the Stewardship Committee from the IHC (no support yet voiced for this by the IHC).
   • Security and legal refuse to keep the mod gates unlocked from 9-5.
   • If the campus buildings weren't a place of business, then they'd be locked down in a heartbeat.
   • During the meeting regarding the South House project, we were given the impression that the South Houses would be open throughout the day, no matter what.
   • If the administration puts in systems that students don't like, then students are likely not to care about destroying those systems.
   • Sean will go talk with Margo Marshak about the doors/legal issues.
5. Cats in the South Houses:
   • Jeff will investigate the cats issue, look up filter possibilities, etc...
