IHC Minutes: 11/30/06

Meeting called to order in Parson Gates

Guests preset: John Hall, Tom Mannion, Ken Libbrecht, Cathy Jurca, Tim Chang, Yuliya Kuznetsova

Committee members absent: Ricky Jones

1. New acting Blacker House president.
   • Joey has withdrawn from the Institute for a period of time. Yuliya will be taking over his job until the Blacker House elections.
2. Alumni Fund Letter.
   • Jeff wouldn't sign the alumni fund letter because he didn't feel that the language of the letter (referring to Caltech preparing its students well for post-undergraduate life) was representative of him. The Dabney excomm agrees with Jeff.
3. Interhouse
   • The bookstore wil be open during the day of Interhouse.
   • National Geographic is apparently filming a 2-hour special on Interhouse.
4. Pavel
   • The Dabney RAs have a letter in their apartment for people to sign.
   • Pavel's funeral is on Monday.
   • There'll be a community gathering tonight at 5pm in Dabney lounge.
5. South Houses
   • Craig is going over to St. Luke's on Monday.
   • Hard use testing of the South Houses is scheduled for the week of December 8th.
   • The administration needs to know exactly which students wil be on campus during the winter.
6. Avery
   • Avery is coming up for review by the faculty board soon.
   • The SHC (Student Housing Committee) has already done a very informal review.
   • The IHC should be made aware of what the review process entails.
