Yong-He Temple
They say that wishes, or rather prayers, said here often do come true. Or at least, it puts your heart at ease to accomplish your task, for the name says "harmony and peace."
Temple of Heaven
The emperors used to come to this place and pray to the heaven for good harvests. It is located two kilometers southeast of the Forbidden City. The gardens and surroudings occupies an area five times that of the Forbidden City. Temple of Heaven, located in the south, is one of the four temples (Temple of Earth in the North, Temple of Sun in the east, Temple of Moon in the west) in Beijing.
The Great Wall
Construction first started in seventh century B.C., the Great Wall is visible from the moon. There is a saying in Chinese: if you do not climb the Great Wall, you are not a hero. (And yes, we took pictures there. =P)
Tiananmen Square
Located in the center of Beijing, Tiananmen Square is 440,000 square meters that can hold one million people. The Monument to the People's Heroes, the Great Hall of the People, the Museum of the Chinese Revolution, the Museum of Chinese History, and the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall are apart of the square. Behind the Qianmen (front grate) is the Forbidden City.
Forbidden City
This is where most of the emperors lived; back in that time, not everyone is allowed inside, hence "forbidden." It has magnificent architectures inside, including living quarters, gardens, and of course big halls where the rulers held big assemblies.
ummmm, well, Forbidden City... kinda
Here is something new, maybe it's old, a lost legend. Long long ago, ok, maybe not THAT long ago, it was in year 2002, there were these two crazy people that took over China for about one hour. What are their names? One of them, the girl, was Crazy JoyJoy the Silly, the other was her accomplice, who shall not be named. =P During the one hour of their reign, they did not do much save taking pictures. =D I got some of the evidence of their silly-ness. Do not ask how I got them, for if I told you, I would have to kill you. ;P
Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyuan)
The name translates to the Garden of Clear Ripples. It was burned down by the allied forces Great Britain and France in 1860.
