Aloha Kakou mai ka Hui o Na Lilinoe!
Hello from Na Lilinoe!!!!!!!!!
Statement of Purpose for the Hawai'i Club
The main purpose of the Na Lilinoe (Caltech's Hawai'i Club) is to
facilitate excursions to events that are relevant to Hawaiian Culture.
Many west coast colleges have Hawai'i Clubs that put on Lu'au and
other social events to promote modern Hawaiian culture. Since
Caltech is a small school, we do not have sufficient people to
host our own events. Events that we would like to organize will be
discussions on Hawaiian Sovereignty and Makahiki festivals.
No, we will not be flying in coconut-bra-clad-girls. No one will
ever have to wear a grass skirt. No, we won't be offering hula
lessons. Yes, club members will get lei-ed (pronounced "laid").
No Don Ho music allowed, although contemporary Hawaiian music is
encouraged.
Mahalo no ko 'oukou ho'olohe ana mai.
