Baked Macaroni with Cheese
2 c milk
1 bay leaf
3 mace blades
4 Tbs butter or margarine - melted
1/3 c flour
2 c grated parmesan or cheddar cheese
1/3 c bread crumbs
4 c macaroni (al dente)
- Preheat oven to 400. Grease 13x9 and sprinkle with some bread crumbs
- Gently heat milk with bay and mace in a small saucepan
- Place butter and flour in a medium saucepan. Mix well with a wire whisk. Cook 2-3min
- Strain hot milk into flour and butter, mix smoothly with whisk
- Bring to a boil, stirring constantly for 5min
- Season with salt and pepper
- Add all but 4Tbs cheese, stir over low heat until melted
- Combine pasta and sauce. Pour into prepared dish
- Sprinkle with the rest of the bread crumbs
- Cook for 20min
