The first leg of the trip was a cross-country flight from
Philadelphia to San Francisco. We stayed with my uncle in Los
Altos for a few days, and then drove up the coast all the way to
the Oregon border. Northern California was one of the most
beautiful places we visited on the trip. When we got back to San
Francisco we took some time to explore the city, including the
rather touristy Pier 39. That's where this photo was taken from,
looking out across the bay on a cloudy day at the prison-fortress
of Alcatraz. Pretty Spectacular.
