Carter Moursund

I am an electrical engineer.  Throughout my career, I have worked at startups, including starting the company Omnilux, and working at AstroTerra.   Engineering is the process of problem solving, and I apply that process to problems in systems including software, electronics, mechanical systems, optics, and combinations of all of these.  I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the California Institute of Technology in Electrical Engineering in 1997.  For more detailed information on my background, please review my resume.

On June 4, 2005, I married my lovely wife Elizabeth at the Athenaeum at Caltech.  The Ath did a great job and we had a beautiful ceremony and reception there.  I am working on a more complete web page with our wedding pictures, but that may take a while.  We have a house in Pasadena that we are attempting to make more livable.  After a substantial remodel we have made some great progress on that goal.

I drive a 2001 Corvette Convertible.  It’s a great car that I have taken on some long road trips.  I’ve been driving since I could reach the pedals and still find it is the best way to see our beautiful country.  The picture at left is from a road trip up to the bay area back in 2001.

I still see and keep in touch with Kevin Richter and Ernesto Blanco, who were my best men at my wedding.

Heidi Eldenburg Bramlet, a classmate of mine from Caltech, helped me start Omnilux and is now starting a new web company at Idealab.   Heidi and her husband Henry and their daughter Odessa live in Pasadena so I see them fairly often.  Heidi and Henry were also both in our wedding.

Corey Porter is married again and is very happy.  So is his son, Fletcher, who continues to grow up and remind me just how long it has been since we were all back at Caltech.  Corey and his wife, Stephanie, helped introduce Elizabeth and me and were also in our wedding.

My parents, Al and Jane, live in a giant new house outside of San Antonio, Texas, where I grew up.

Over the years in my various companies, I have worked with some great people that I try to keep in touch with, but don’t do a very good job.  If you’ve come across this page, please feel free to drop me a line.  I’d enjoy catching up.
