My name is Patrick Higgins. I'm a twenty year old computer science major at Caltech. More to come soon.

History

Beginning from the beginning, I was born on February 11, 1978 in Denver, Colorado. I was full-term, but was the size of a premie. I've been a small man ever since. Sometime around 1980 my family moved to Houston. After less than a year in Houston, we moved back to Denver.

For the most part, I did my growing up in Denver. I really liked it then and I still like it now. I intend on moving back there after I finish school, unless I discover something better (there's a lot I haven't seen).

In 1990, my mother decided (on a whim) to move the family to Pinedale, Wyoming, a very small and remote town. It was quite a culture shock, and I have to say I really hated it at the time, but I look back on those days with (mostly) fond memories.

We only stayed in Pinedale for two years, at the end of which my sister graduated from high school and left us. We decided to try and return to the family in Texas again, this time moving to San Marcos, but my mother and I hated it, so we moved out after a year. We again fled to Colorado, but this time to the Western slope, which has far fewer people than the Eastern slope (where the cities like Denver, Colorado Springs, Boulder, Pueblo, and Fort Collins are). Specifically, we moved to Montrose, a town that's not extraordinary, but in which everything just seemed to work out right. I was a junior in high school by the time I made that final move.

If this seems like a lot of moving, just take into consideration that we moved within Pinedale and Montrose once each, so that I moved every summer from ages 13 to 18. I got pretty good at taking the couch apart.

After I graduated from high school, I enrolled at Caltech, and am currently a junior here. Like most techers, I'm unhappy. The worst part it is that I realize it, but can't really do anything about it (other than transfer). It's just what happens around here.
