- L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center: 1625 N. Schrader Blvd., Los Angeles. Sponsors a variety of social services, referrals, and discussion/counseling groups for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.
- LAGLS:Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Scientists: General meetings are quarterly potluck socials.
- Lambda JPL: Networking group at JPL meets bimonthly on lab over lunch.
- PFLAG: Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays: The Pasadena chapter meets 7-9 pm, the first Tuesday of every month in the Neighborhood Church, 301 North Orange Grove Blvd, Pasadena.
- FTM Alliance: Safe, affirming monthly Guys Chat meets in West Hollywood.

Greater Pasadena Aid Fund 3579 E. Foothill Blvd, Pasadena. An all gay run and supported, all volunteer charity in Pasadena. They assist persons with terminal illnesses with rent and utilities until they get on permanent assistance.
- AIDS Service Center: 909 S. Fair Oaks Ave, Pasadena. Serving HIV+ people in the San Gabriel Valley. They also sponsor support groups for seropositive people and their caregivers.
Clubs and Gay Friendly Restaurants in the Pasadena area
- The Boulevard: 3199 E. Foothill Blvd.; 626-356-9304. Primarily a gay men's bar, but welcomes women. Canned music, but two pool tables. Male literature available.
- Encounters: 203 N. Sierra Madre Blvd.; 626-792-3735. Primarily a gay men's bar, but welcomes women. Live DJs on weekends, a lounge area, pool table and dance floor.
- Twin Palms Restaurant: 101 W Green St (at De Lacey Ave); 626/577-2567. Lunch & Dinner, Huge Menu, Unusual Combos.
Some local bookstores
- Caltech Lending Library: 2nd floor, Center for Student Services, Caltech. A very large collection of books and DVDs. Free to borrow. Caltech/JPL only.
- South Raymond News: 35 S. Raymond; 795-1227. A wide range of gay and lesbian magazines and newspapers. Friendly gay owner.
- Vroman's Bookstore: 695 E. Colorado; 449-5320. Has a gay and lesbian section (about 120 titles). Will special order.
- A Different Light: 4014 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood; 213-668-0629. A huge selection of gay and lesbian books and periodicals.
- The Bungalow News: 746 E. Colorado; 795-9456. A newsstand with a limited selection of gay periodicals for purchase.
