• Read B. K. Ridley: On Science.
• Read Jim Collins's Good to Great.
• Frustrated, extirpated Mac OS X from my Powerbook. No compelling reason to use it; most applications run faster in Classic; also, the power usage is too high and the hard disk doesn't sleep. Maybe it's swapping constantly, but I've already installed the maximum RAM that will fit. Too bad. I already bought a license for OmniGraffle.

• Another round of fly squashes.
• Visited Cape Cod with Xiaoli.
  • Stayed at the By The Sea Guests Suites.
  • Visited Valerie at Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
• Ordered a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P71 digital camera from TechOnWeb, after consulting DCResource and PriceGrabber.

September 2002

• Attended the Faculty Forum on Graduate Student Unionization.
• Ordered Dexter C. Kozen's Design and Analysis of Algorithms from zubal_books and Cormen, Leiserson, Rivest, and Stein's Introduction to Algorithms from a1techbooks (both hosted at Amazon.com) as references for CS 681.
• Attended Steve and Evangeline's wedding in Manhattan Beach.

• Dissatisfied, explored moving assets from E*Trade to NetBank or Vanguard.
