After I was elected ASCIT President in February 2002, I began to do a lot more writing, and this is an archive of many published and unpublished writings starting from that time and ending with my graduation in June 2003.
- Blurb about ARTS bus - As one of the first
things I did after my election, I wrote a short blurb about parking on
campus.
- SIF Funding Application - Over spring break,
I applied for SIF funding on behalf of ASCIT.
- Letter to President Baltimore -
At the beginning of third term, I wrote a letter to President
Baltimore; He sent a message to students 5 days later.
- Club Survey Letter - On April 6, I sent
a letter to the editors of the Tech about the club survey and ASCIT
donuts.
- Student Rep for CEPSA - After the Faculty
Board Meeting on April 8, I contacted Harvey Newman, the chair of the Ad
Hoc Faculty Committee on Exchange Programs and Study Abroad, about student
representatives on his committee.
- Student-Faculty Conference 2002 - The
first conference in 5 years happenned on April 29, 2002, and I sent three
separate submissions to the Tech about it.
- Dabney Concerns about ASCIT - In early May,
some members of Dabney House compiled a list of grievances regarding
ASCIT. On May 17, 2002 I drafted a response.
- Letter to Incoming Frosh - In late May, I
wrote a letter to the incoming freshmen welcoming them to Caltech.
- Response to Mike Russo's Concerns - On June
3, 2002 I sent wrote a response to concerns raised by a student that were
printed in the Tech the previous week.
- Letter Regarding ASCIT Membership - On June
6, 2002 a group of Dabney students staged a protest regarding ASCIT. I
distributed this letter on that day.
- The Meaning of ASCIT Dues - On June 7, 2002 I
wrote a letter to the editors of the Tech about ASCIT Dues.
- Memo on Health Insurance - At the end of the
school year, the Faculty Health Committee sent a report to the
administration. On June 12, 2002, I wrote this memo as an addendum to that
report.
- ASCIT Newsgroups Memo - A memo
regarding newsgroups was sent to Caltech administrators for their fall
retreat.
- The History of Rotation - At the beginning
of the new school year, I wrote a brief history of rotation for the
Tech.
- The History of the Honor Code - The week the
Caltech Y sponsored an Honor Code discussion, I wrote a brief history of
the Honor Code for the Tech
- Inside Senator Feinstein's Office - The
week before the November election, I wrote to the Tech about the
inner workings of a Senate office.
- A History of Caltech Pranks - After a somewhat offensive prank on campus, I wrote a short history of Caltech pranks.
- About ASCIT Dues - Since my earlier blurb about ASCIT dues was never printed, I wrote another essay that discussed some of the history of ASCIT dues.
- Responsibility in Student Government - Following the "What I Love About Caltech" event, I wrote an article about the importance of responsibility in the Caltech undergraduate student body.
- A History of Student Publications - In the last Tech of the year, I contributed a history of undergraduate publications.
- Caltech Rose Float - I wrote about a Caltech Rose Float in the first Tech of 2003.
- Year in Review - As my term ended, I wrote a brief summary of the year in review.
- Women in Student Government - After the 2003 elections, I commented on the high number of women.
- Thanks to the BoD - A thank you to the 2002 ASCIT BoD.
- Too Many Clubs? - I often wondered whether there were too many clubs on campus.
- The Caltech Myth - A prelude to the 2003 Student-Faculty Conference.

- What's Wrong with Caltech? - As my days at Caltech came to an end, I began a four-part series to investigate what was wrong with our school.
- What's Wrong with ASCIT? - The student government is an easy scapegoat.
- What's Wrong with the Honor System? - I had wanted to coordinate this column with a student forum on the Honor System, but it fell through. At least the column got printed.
- What's Wrong with the House System? - Unfortunately, nobody ever wants to admit that anything is wrong.
- Becoming Alumni - Less than 2 weeks from graduation, I wrote about alumni life.
- The Class of 2003 - For Commencement, I wrote about the seniors.
- A History of Undergraduate Self-Governance at Caltech - The biggest thing on my desk, my 2002 SURF Report was basically my senior thesis.
