In last week's Tech, Martha-Helene Stapleton was quoted saying that 75% of students regularly used the ARTS bus. This statement is incorrect, but she probably heard the words come out of my mouth, so I felt I should correct it. The ASCIT Parking survey results, now posted on donut, show that 74% of respondents had "considered using (or actually used)" the ARTS bus. Among students who did not have cars on campus, 66% used the ARTS bus (4% several times a week, 28% several times a term, and 34% several times a year). Although not exactly "regularly", it is an asset that many students did exploit, and the changed route will certainly be an inconvenience to some. Towards the end, the article brought back the topic of freshman parking, which taken a backseat to many greater injustices in the past few months. Though a small issue, I find it emblematic of Caltech administration's attitude towards students. How much can the students expect to get out of far more contentious issues if the administration can't even give up 35 parking spaces?
