Student Representation for CEPSA

[E-mail to Dr. Harvey Newman on April 12, 2002]

Dr. Newman,

I enjoyed your presentation at the Faculty Board this past Monday and I know many students who greatly appreciate the work you've done with the CEPSA.

I was wondering if you would consider the possibility of having undergraduate representatives on the CEPSA. There are undergraduates on many other faculty committees, and I believe there is now a reasonably large pool of interested students and students with personal experience that could provide valuable input to this committee.

If you are open to this possibility, I'm not sure what the procedural steps are to making this happen. You may be able to do it without any approval, but perhaps it has to go through Dr. Hunt's Membership & Bylaws Committee - I really don't know the answer to that.

I hope you will consider this idea, as I think it will be beneficial to the study abroad program as a whole. Please let me know what you think.

Sincerely,
-Ted Jou, ASCIT President

Dear Ted,

Thanks for your note of appreciation and the good suggestion.

Many faculty committees have student representation, and that's a very good thing. The CEPSA committee is surely one that could benefit from such representation.

I would suggest that we select one or two student representatives, with appropriate experience and background...
