T O T E M

``They say that if you wear bright colors in the butterfly
house, one just might land on you.''

I open slowly as a bud.
Blooms attract the butterflies,
not just the bugs.
Rainbows clothe my body,
a riot of color.

Ten wings fluttering about me,
their music in my ears
joins with my voice;
So lovely a song.
Peace spreads within me.
The butterflies lift my now light body,
while flowers fill my eyes,
until...

My wings spread with theirs,
a myriad of jewels in the sun.
