Main
This section goes over various problems or DYN's (Did You Notice) people who are too anal, like myself, have (it only covers up to chapters that have been released in [dub] form). We, who try to find plot-holes and care about meaningless details, can pose our problems and issues here and, hopefully, have them resolved. Thus, this section DEFINITELY contains spoilers and really should be read only by those who have a "problem" with something they have in the V-Tamer storyline (you'd only have a problem if you already know something about digimon and are not a complete n00b - especially people who think all there is to Digimon is the cartoon). So, feel free to email me something that's not listed here for chapters that have been released so far (in [dub] form). As long as it's suitable, I'll put it up and, hopefully, have an answer for it, too. Many of the issues and arguments already lsited here can be cited from posts made on Megchan's Digimon Message Board, a place where I used to post a lot but now the board no longer exists. Unfortunately, there were just too many posts and issues over the long time that has passed since V-Tamer's inception, that I cannot credit all the ideas to the proper sources. I apologize in advance and state that not all ideas below (except those explicitly stated so) are mine alone. Feel free to visit the message board to look at issues regarding V-Tamer or to post about V-Tamer issues.

GENERAL

First of all, you have to remember that the V-Tamer comic is in a completely separate universe than any other Digimon franchise (anime, games, etc.). Sure, there are tons of references, nods, and allusions to various digimon things, but OBVIOUSLY, this Taichi is not the same Taichi of the first season of the Digimon anime. So, that's a big thing to to remember: in its own universe, this comic can obey its own rules. So far as I can tell, the closest thing this comic story-line keeps as a "bible," is the categorization of Digimon (which is MOST evident in the card game). Levels (Child, Adult, Perfect), attacks, and evolutions seem to follow the system set up by the games, but I would not be surprised if a digimon everyone thought was an Adult was labeled as a Perfect in the manga or if a digimon evolves into something unexpected.

The second general thing you have to remember is that this manga is based off of JAPANESE digimon. That means Japanese names and terms will be used. Megchan has chosen to translate the words used literally, instead of using the American terms. Thus, digivolution is now called evolution, Ultimate-level digimon are called Perfects, and various names of digimon will be different (Myotismon is called Vamdemon in Japanese). A brief translation guide is given below, but there's a nuance in digimon that needs to be elaborated here. Digimon, in Japanese, is merely a short-hand way of saying Digital Monster, as opposed to America where it's really treated like a single term. Thus, many times in the comic, a digimon will simply be referred to as a "monster." This is merely another way to say digimon, as opposed to calling it a monster (as in, "what a horrific, monstrous creature!").

Yes, there's more, but I shall endeavor to always put footnotes in the manga to elaborate on the Japanese names which have a different name in English. In any event, if you see something named differently from what you thought it was, it might be because the original Japanese name is being used.

The third general thing you have to remember is that the V-Tamer comic seems to be based most strongly off the original V-Pet game. Known as Tamagotchi, when they came to the U.S., there were various kinds of V-Pet games, and one of them had the digital twist of evolution, training, etc. that resulted in digimon. However, there are various aspects that show up in the comic, including training, feeding, and the need to poop. You might not always pick up on these, but if you ever wonder why digimon are treated a certain weird way in the V-Tamer comic, it might be a homage reference to the original V-Pet game.

VOLUME 1

This section is not yet fully developed. It will be worked on later, when the [dub] form gets more into the swing of things. But go ahead and email me if you want stuff entered here. I will make sure to log it and post it, giving appropriate credit, when I have time. Q: ?

VOLUME 3

For those REALLY experienced old-timers who know everything there is to know about the V-Tamer manga (as well as pop culture and most things Japanese), Psycho Maverick was kind enough to write this humorous summary of the plot and characters of V-Tamer 01. It was originally posted at Megchan's Digimon Message Board, where you can find all sorts of people who share an interest in digimon.
