The Tyrant's Blade hath no blood spilled
But doth the spirit carve,
Soulcutter hath no body killed,
But many left to starve.

This Sword has no symbol. Soulcutter's hilt is pure black, unmarked. This makes it -- potentially -- the easiest to distinguish (or rule out) for those viewing from a distance, with poor vision, or with limited knowledge or memory of what symbol represents each Sword. The caveat to this "rule" is that all Swords with symbols have them only on one side of the hilt; it can be difficult to see both sides of the hilt of a well-placed Sword.

Assuming it's yours to inspect, however, Soulcutter's unique standing is a fortunate one, because it, the Sword of Despair, is not a Sword to be drawn lightly. Indeed, lightly would never appropriately describe the drawing of this Sword. Not only does this exceptionally magical Weapon feel totally inert, its metal is dull, lacking luster almost to the point of drawing light inward, when unsheathed. Again, it is fortunate (for reasons described below) that one can glimpse these effects without fulling releasing the Blade from its scabbard.

The Sword of Despair is a very appropriate alternate name for this Sword. Unless you are a masochist, have a deathwish, or simply want to take a lot of people down with you in a rut of unbelievable apathy, Soulcutter is, without a doubt, the Sword you would least want to possess... by itself. Combined with another powerful Sword, however, Soulcutter becomes a rather awesome weapon, and can be quite useful if you're acting solo. This may be why it is also, seemingly oddly, known as the "Tyrant's Blade." Presumably, a tyrant could use it to silence riots and rebellion, provided that tyrant has a way to get around being affected by its magic himself, and of resheathing the Blade once it has been drawn.

For resheathing a Sword, and in fact, doing anything other than sinking ever deeper into apathy and lifelessness, is out of the question for anyone under Soulcutter's power. Unlike other Swords that affect their wielders in a manner different from the way they affect those around him or her, Soulcutter seems to make no distinction.

The Sword creates a sphere of influence, centered on itself, with a 100-meter radius. Within this sphere, all life is drained of its raison d'etre, if you will. Extreme apathy takes over the minds of those exposed to Soulcutter's magic, and they simply stop caring about... anything.
